These Bodhisattvas are the great masters of giving who are able to bestow everything with equanimity of mind. Without stinginess or regret, without expecting any reward, without seeking any praise and without desire for profit, they only give in order to rescue and safeguard all living beings, accept and embrace all living beings, and abundantly benefit all living beings. I took another step on my Buddhist spiritual path. Last Thursday night I was ordained a ngakpa called "Ngakchang Konchok Jangchup Dorje." Since several of us had taken refuge only days before, Venerable Lama Sonam was apparently merciful enough not to change our newly received names. However, the level of commitment is no less demanding.
The Ngakchang path is less well known than the monastic path, but its "vows" or root samayas, although fewer in number than the precepts for monastics are very…

There is a lot of talk these days about Engaged Buddhism, but what does it really mean to us as practitioners? Some times it seems to be quite vague or not much more than being a "green/eco" Buddhist. I think if we really look into the Buddhas teachings we can see that the Bodhisattva Path is a much more focused, complete and not to mention workable model than the hit and miss ideas floating around these days as “Engaged Buddhism”. It seems that popular Engaged Buddhism lacks a path and has a li…

The advancement of science and technology seems to have achieved little more than linear, numerical improvement; development often means little more than more mansions in more cities. As a result, the ecological balance- the very basis of our life on earth- has been greatly affected.

In Tibet we say that many illness can be cured by the one medicine of love and compassion. These qualities are the ultimate source of human happiness, and need for them lies at the very core of our being. Unfortunately, love and compassion have been omitted from too many spheres of social interaction for too long. Usually confined to family and home, their practice in public life is considered impractical, even naive. This is tragic. In my view point, the practice of compassion is not just a sym…

According to Buddhism for a man to be perfect there are two qualities that he should develop equally: compassion on one side, and wisdom on the other. Here compassion represents love, charity, kindness, tolerance and such noble qualities on the emotional side, or qualities of the heart, while wisdom would stand for the intellectual side or the qualities of the mind. If one develops only the emotional neglecting the intellectual, one may become a good-hearted fool; while to develop only the intel…

Another popularly circulated words of wisdom in the net:

Another article friends shared in email circulation - Smartness and Integrity
