About Me:
Hi, my name is Nigel. I follow a Theravadin path. I have been a practicing Buddhist for 9 years now.

I have been a human and civil rights activist since I was a teenager. My areas of interest are the strengthening of civil society to protect and promote both cultural and biological diversity. Most of my work these days is with indigenous peoples in Africa.

I am working with some friends to help create a Buddhist information network across South Africa. The goal is to link up engaged and activist Buddhists. I am on the technical committee of the Western Cape Religious Leaders Forum. The function of the WCRLF is to encourage coordinated dialogue about ethical and policy issues between faith communities and the State.

There is a great new DVD out on climate and faith, produced by Nick Chevalier for the Southern African Faith Communities Environmental Initiative.

I attended the International Network of Engaged Buddhists conference in Chiang Mai, Thailand in November 2009. It was inspirational.

If you have similar interests, and particularly if you are in Africa, please get in touch.

Congratulations to SAFCEI for its new DVD on faith communities an climate change in South Africa. Don't miss this inspirational piece of work. I lift my hands in anjali / wai to Bishop Geoff Davies and his team.

On 22 March 2009, I will be giving a talk about climate change and faith communities at the Unitarian Church on Hout Street in Cape Town. All welcome.

Hi Nigel

Haven't really been logging in here much. Time tends to run away when on the net. I got the file from Erin and will try to sort out the insurance. Sounds like you are having a good time there.

Hi Nigel. Trust you are well and enjoying Norway. We are yet again hounded by IT problems. All my electronics was taken by lightening two week ago. Now that I am almost up and running again, the server and network of the temple is on the blink. As soon as we have almost sorted it out, the electricity goes, and it is back to square 1.
But for when I am more functional IT-wise, how do I get others to come to this page? Just send them the short-cut?
Keep well. Humbly (as always) ;)
