Not Turning Away: The Practice of Engaged Buddhism

by Susan Moon (Shambhala) -- an anthology of some of the Buddhist Peace Fellowship's best articles from the Turning Wheel Journal and divided into three sections. The first focuses on how engaged Buddhism helps in personal suffering, while the second section describes the experience of taking engaged Buddhism "into the world." The third section shifts away from the anecdotal toward the analytical, including the roots of engaged Buddhism and suggestions for teaching children.

Haiku For Tsubaki Sensei

First winter morning:
the mirror I stare into
shows my teacher's face.

Misogi Bells ring...
Black hakama and Dogi
winter is cold silence

Sitting at crossroads
far into winter
the path disappears.
